Title: Inference of Causal Networks in Systems Genetics

Presenter: Dr. Ina Hoeschele     Department of Statistics, Virginia Tech

Date and Time: Monday, February 18th, 2008 3:30-4:30pm

Abstract:
A major goal of complex trait biology and systems biology is to infer causal relationships among (a very large number of) phenotypes or traits. Here we describe systems genetics as a highly effective approach to causal inference. We present current statistical methods for high-dimensional QTL mapping and for constructing causal networks by combining trait data (e.g., disease phenotypes, expression data, metabolite traits) with genetic marker data and if available with sequence information.
