Samarth Swarup

Postdoctoral Research Associate, NDSSL, VBI.

Professional Preparation

  • University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, PhD Computer Science, 2007
  • University of Bombay, B.E.Computer Engineering, 1998

Research Interests

  • Complex Networks: He is interested in networks such as social networks, and algorithms for generating such networks. He is also interested in using models from evolution to study such networks.
  • Information Dynamics: He is interested in self-organizing informational systems like language, the means by which collective representatives converge and diverge, and how we might enable a population of artificial agents or machines to autonomously develop useful languages for cooperation or coordination.
  • Cumulative Learning: He is interested in machine learning methods, such as inductive transfer or transfer learning, which allow agents to use experience from previously learned task to improve learning performance on each new task encountered, and to accumulate a store of "knowledge" over a lifetime.
