Research

Research at the Network Dynamics and Simulation Science Laboratory resides in three interrelated areas, allowing us to specify, design, and analyze simulations of extremely large systems and implement them on massively parallel architectures:

1) Computer Science and Mathematical Theoretical Foundations
  • Algebra, graph theory and complex networks, combinatorics, and dynamical systems
  • Computational complexity, analysis of algorithms, and data mining
  • Combinatorial optimization
2) Computational Science
  • High-performance computing oriented design and engineering
  • Modeling of critical infrastructures, and biological and information systems
  • Computational economics
  • Modeling and storage
  • Applied statistics
3) Software Systems and Engineering
  • High performance, grid, and web-based software systems
  • Formal specifications, and validation
  • Application software development and system integration
  • Human-computer interaction
